Tom Petey Jones

Petey was born at DeWitt Army Hospital, Fort Belvoir, Alexandria, Virginia. He was raised and still lives in Alexandria. He attended Charles Houston Elementary and Parker-Gray Middle Schools. He went to George Washington High School until his senior year when he came to T. C. Williams as part of the school consolidation, K6-2-2-2 plan. After graduating from T.C. in 1972, Petey continued his education for two years at Norfolk State University on a football scholarship.
All his coaches in the Alexandria youth leagues all the way through High School drove Petey to excel at sports. Coach Frutrell from George Washington High School inspired Petey to play hard and do his very best every game. He was a Varsity Letterman in Football and Basketball his sophomore, junior and senior years.
Petey works at George Washington Middle School and is a Supervisor in the Alexandria Recreation Department.
Petey’s oldest daughter, Kiesha Boggn, is a graduate of T.C. Williams High School, earned her Bachelors Degree from North Carolina A&T and holds two Masters Degrees from the University of Akron. She is a teacher and administrator in the Alexandria School District.
Crystal Jones, Petey’s second daughter, attends Virginia Commonwealth University. His son Marcus is a student at George Washington Middle School in Alexandria.
